Head Coach
Sara enters her 15th season as the head of the Wildcat volleyball program. During her tenure as head coach, the Wildcats have gone from 4-31 to a state runner up finish and 43-1 record. They have appeared in 7 state tournaments in the last 8 years. She is originally from Muncie, IN where she attended Muncie Central High School. While at Central, she was a four-year varsity starter in both volleyball and basketball. Sara earned all-conference and all-state honors her junior and senior years. She capped off her senior year by being named Gatorade’s Indiana and Midwest Player of the Year as well as receiving All American recognition 3 times. Sara attended the University of Illinois on a volleyball scholarship where she started for four years and played in every match. While at U of I, she was selected to the All-Big Ten team as a sophomore. Sara is a Special Education Teacher in Woodbury, MN. She has two children; Ryan (13) and Parker (11) as well as three step children; Maddi (22), Michael (22) and Morgan
(19). Maddi is a 5th year setter for the University of Minnesota Duluth and Morgan is a sophomore setter at St Thomas University.

Ali is the true “utility player” on our coaching staff. She is incredibly versatile and can successfully connect with athletes of all ability and experience levels. She has coached volleyball for 15 years total; all but one of them have been here in River Falls. She started with the JV team and then spent a few years at the middle school level when her children were little. She returned to the high school and has coached the JV, Blue and Gold teams. This season Ali will be assisting the varsity again. She is married to Kyle Igou and together they have three children, Aubrey (12), Ethan (11) and Kendall (9). Ali is a graduate of St Croix Falls HS where she participated in volleyball, basketball and track. Ali teaches Health and PE here at River Falls High School.

Abby Doerre is excited to begin her first year coaching for the Wildcats. A 2020 graduate of River Falls High School, Abby was a three-year varsity player and two-year starter, helping lead her team to the WIAA state tournament all three years, including a second-place finish in 2017. During her time at River Falls, she set the record for the most digs in a season, a record she held for many years, and earned Big Rivers Conference honorable mention her senior season. Abby graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2024 with a degree in Finance and currently works as a financial analyst for 3M. She brings her passion for the game and a strong commitment to player development to her coaching role, hoping to inspire a love for volleyball in players of all levels and skills.

Sarah has been a part of volleyball for over 30 years. She attended St. Paul Harding High School where she was all conference and all state honorable mention her senior year. She was a member of the UWRF Falcon volleyball team from 1996-1999. During that time, the Falcons were conference champions in 1996, runners up in 1998 & 1999 and made three NCAA D3 tournament appearances. Sarah began her coaching career after college, assisting for the Falcons during the 2000 season. She was then the JV coach at her Alma mater for 7 years. As well as coaching high school volleyball, she has coached for the River Falls Volleyball Club in the past and is currently a coach at Kokoro Volleyball. She is the Secretary at Westside Elementary. Sarah is married to her husband Jim of 21 years and they have two daughters, Hannah,18 (a Wildcat volleyball alum!) and Rebekah,16.

Chelsey is positive, competitive, and full of energy. Chelsey still plays all summer, spring and winter at various leagues and tournaments throughout Wisconsin and the Twin Cities. Her favorite style of volleyball is sand doubles and triples. Chelsey lives in Prescott with her husband, Phillip Gergen, and their two dogs Bandit and Brodie. She graduated from University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with her Bachelors degree in Chemistry and is currently going back to school to earn her MBA. She currently uses her Chemistry degree working in town at Interfacial as an Sr. Account Manager.

Melissa is the most veteran coach on the Wildcat staff; entering her 16th year coaching in River Falls. She was setter at Grantsburg High School where they have a tradition of being a strong, competitive volleyball program. Over the years, Melissa has contributed to this program in many capacities. She has worked with both the JV2 blue and gold teams here at RFHS and has also coached at Meyer Middle School. Melissa is currently working as a para professional at Westside Elementary. She and her husband, Alan, have been married for 18 years. They have three boys Cameron age 17, Mason age 14 and Easton age 9.
